Onion Restaurant and Tea House

This restaurant had delicious food and kind, attentive service. I loved the teriyaki chicken, I ordered. And the food of those I ate with looked and smelled just as delicious! I definitely want to go here again!

Great food, the service was a bit slow but over all once you become accustomed​ to the servers yelling and everyone talking loudly in an echoing room it's all good👍. After the tip and all the bill was only $61, we had two entrees, appetizer, two teas a bubbly and hot fruit, and a huge roll of sushi. Overall for the price and quality of the food I would of gave 5 stars yet the noise leave was a quiet loud. Recommend going but avoid lunch/dinner rush

I have enjoyed the Onion Tea House for many years. On my last visit, I got chicken Mei Fun, and it was delicious! The serving size was huge, so I ate a lot, and took a lot home.

The food is good, but this location is a little dated, as a matter of fact nothing has changed in over sixteen years.The value for menu selections is also very good. 6.50 for lunch that includes soup, eggroll and entree selection.The service is friendly and helpful.

Great place to grab some Chinese food and bubble tea! The bubble tea is served in these really big mugs, and is enough reason alone to come! I will say, the tapioca we had in one of the glasses was kind of strange textured (not the normal chewy circular stuff your used to), but it was still good. The meal was great and the price was good as well. The atmosphere of the place was good and overall I'll definitely be back!

The good: very friendly staff, fair prices AND a large selection of food.Could use some work: not a very large tea selection for having tea in the name. The chicken dishes had more veggies than chicken.

Firecracker Chicken is definitely my favorite, but they have a wide variety to choose from. More interesting than your run-of-the-mill Chinese restaurant!

This place is amazing, hands down. Even the takeout. But, for fans of Lo Mein from places like Hing Wang, this place is more of a Japanese cuisine. It tastes quite different here. Maybe try chow mein instead. If you're sketchy about trying something new, they have what they call an "American Menu." It has stuff you would probably be more familiar with. I recommend the Teriyaki Dragon and Phoenix, it's amazing. Oh, and definitely try the Bubble Tea! It's kinda weird but, so damn good! They have a ton of flavors.

During this period of take out only I thought we would help a small business. Ordered 3 general chicken with rice, vegetable lo mein, crab Rangoon and egg rolls. The people that work there were very nice so I will give it 2 stars. They forgot to include ALL the rice with our order. So I drove 20 minutes home and no rice. Just chicken swimming in sauce. Called back and they said sorry next time I give you free rice. No thanks. Will not be going back. I used to eat here years ago and now I remember why I stopped. The place is falling apart. They need to clean and repair badly, particularly the exterior.

Huge menu, had the eel rice bowl, was great. Great big pieces of eel that tasted delicious. Good green tea. Will come back again next time I'm in the area.

Onion has the best bubble teas as well as the best Oriental food in the area. The crew here knows us by name and by phone number. They have went out of their way for us on several occasions, more than could have been asked. We love, love, love this place.

Our first time trying this place. It always came down to a flip of a coin to decide where to eat and Onion always got the short end of the stick. We decided to give it a go today and it's easy to say we'll be returning. Asian cuisine is often related to massive portions, but Onion doesn't fit that stereotype. Reasonably sized dishes leave you feeling full - not ready to pop. Hate that it has taken us so long to come in! Thank you for the excellent service!

Get the Rock hot pot!!! My family and I just left and had another amazing meal at the Onion. We got the pupu platter for 4 and the Combo Rock Hot Pot, I'm telling you this soup will make you slap yo momma it's so so good. My 2 teenager's love this dish, its great for the whole family.

Fantastic and delicious. Plus a mom and pop restaurant with friendly service and amazing food presentation!! First visit and I can't wait to go back. Finally found my Chinese restaurant!!

Ordered take-out and the guy that took my order was a bit rude. Probably just not feeling great, but he didn’t give me my price and hung up immediately after giving a time. Food was good but I really wish he’d told me how much it costed before I had to wait the 40 minutes.

I found this place on DoorDash and I’ve been ordering from it ever since. The food is amazing and I’m hooked on Boba Tea. There was a mishap with my last order. I ordered 2 bobas 1 strawberry non milk boba tea with extra boba and a chocolate boba milk tea with extra boba. I got the chocolate, but not the strawberry and that’s my favorite. Instead I got what I think is Thai tea idk cause I’ve never had it. There wasn’t any extra boba in it. Just the regular amount of boba. But it was really good. So it was a nice mishap. I order around 6ish so they probably was busy lol. Because I got two salads instead of just 1 lol. But other then that everything else was correct. Just a funny mishap that now gave me a new flavor I like. Chocolate is always a favorite so I know I’ll love it. Lol. Love this place. I definitely want to eat there once this pandemic is over. Till then I’m going to be a loyal DoorDash customer and order that way. 😊

The only reason I didn't give this place 5 stars is how much of a struggle my Christmas experience was. They were no where near staffed enough for what is likely one of their busiest nights of the year. My first Christmas experience was great, this one not at all. Our appetizers came out after we had finished eating our food. One of our guests never even got his steamed rice.The food is great really, and my previous experience was great too. Just this last time makes me wonder about the management.

A new albany staple for many years. A cozy interior that is nothing fancy but is soothing and quiet. The food and service are always excellent. Nice to have a local non chain restaurant you can count on. Steer clear of the veterans parkway strip restaurants and visit something local for a change. Prices won't break your pocket book.Update, May 2020 apparently there has been a change in cook's. The once excellent food has now fallen way down the scale. Greasy entrees and overly spiced to the extent the food is intolerably. Called the restaurant and was way less than satisfied with conversation on topic. Almost as if they don't care standards have slipped. No longer worth the money to eat here. I will give them one more random chance to see if they have turned things around but fear the onion has gone to bunion...

We luv this place good service great food and proceed good variety.

The menu had a ton of choices, almost too many to choose from. Plenty of Vegetarian and Vegan options to pick from in the mix. I have have 2 or 3 dishes at this point and all of them have tasted great, plenty of flavor, and the veggies have always been fresh. I will mention they use silken tofu vs firm in the dishes I've had. This isn't any issue for me, but I know some people don't like the texture. With that they do seem to offer fried tofu on some dishes. The kids normally go for the chicken dishes and have enjoyed them each time. Atmosphere is a little dated, but is fine overall and the staff was more than polite. It's that service that quickly makes you feel like your at home or with family.

The drinks had a funky taste to them, the food was not good. We had to stop and get something else to eat on the way home. I didnt think you could mess up fried rice, but they seemed to excel at it.

The two staff members who helped us we're so nice and helpful. This place is super special. I could already smell the delicious food from the parking lot. Inside is homey and comfortable, menu is big and varied, and we just had a great time with our beef hot pot. We will be back!

Pulled around back to park, and walked into the cozy little house. Greeted by a specials menu and a hostess we were seated quickly. After we ordered our food it took a few minutes for our appetizer to come out. After about another 10 minutes we got our food, one after the other (they seemed to bring it just as it was finished).The food was delicious, and exactly as expected.

I used to order food to go all the time and have never had an issue until today. I ordered delivery and specifically requested no cucumber in my sushi. The order came with one roll that was all cucumber.

I stopped in just to try "Bubble" tea for the first time and got it to go. I asked the woman at the counter what flavour she preferred and she helped me for almost 8 minutes to decide what to choose with absolutely no fuss. Prices are modest, the place is comfortable, the people are great and the Papaya Bubble Tea is fantastic. Don't sleep on this place!

Here all in have to say. The food was good, the presentation of my food was good. Waiter was real nice. The place really needs to be cleaned up some. With a little love brighten the place up. Due to the place being a little dirty and out of date. I give you 3 stars. Remember the food was good.

The food was AMAZING! The only reason they dont get 5 stars is because the whole place was freezing, pretty sure there was a hole in the window we were sitting next to. Also the service was very slow but they were short staffed and very busy. Other than those 2 inconveniences I'd definitely go back!

It was very nice place! It was my first time going and I was delighted by the food as well as the bubble tea! It's really nice and a calm air about it and the staff are very friendly. I'll definitely be wanting to come back again
